Why I Believe Fireside, February 15

The “Why I Believe” fireside this month is to be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 6:00 PM in the Washington DC Temple Visitors Center. We will feature testimonies of Jesus Christ from President Al and Sister Juleen Jackson.

President Al and Sister Juleen Jackson live in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Al serves as President of the Washington DC  North Young Single Adult Stake. 

Juleen grew up in Utah and has been a member of the church all her life. She graduated from the University of  Utah with a degree in political science, teaches at the Thomas Jefferson Center for Constitutional Studies and is  the national instructor for “Moms for America.” She loves living in our nation’s capital and empowering others by teaching them about the foundations of our government. Juleen has served in many church callings and lists teaching Gospel Doctrine as her favorite. 

Born in Beaufort, South Carolina, and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, Al played collegiate basketball and baseball and has an MBA from Johns Hopkins University. He began his career in DC and his background is in government relations and public service. The Jacksons lived in Utah for 6 years where Al served for 5 years in the  Utah State Senate. He now runs a DC-based consulting practice, advising clients in the areas of business development, venture capital, leadership and government relations.  

Al and Juleen met in DC when Juleen was working as an intern for the US Supreme Court. They hit it off instantly: “We dated for about three weeks and she said, ‘If you really like me, you’re really going to like my church,” Al recalls. Juleen was right: Al was baptized in 1994, they have been married for 33 years, are parents of 7  children (losing 2 sons in infancy), and have one perfect granddaughter.

Services will be conducted in English and ASL in the Washington DC Temple Visitors Center main auditorium. Translation to Spanish will be available in one of the adjoining Visitors’ Center theaters.
