He served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taiwan and speaks Mandarin Chinese. Before being sworn into the United States Senate in January 2025, Curtis served from 2017 to 2025 as the U.S. representative for Utah&#8217;s 3rd congressional district and from 2010 to 2017 as the 44th mayor of Provo, Utah.
