Songs of Faith Through the Ages – Organ Concert

February 23 @ 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Come and be inspired by Songs of Faith, from the Baroque chorale preludes of Bach to African American spirituals, in a concert featuring organ and piano music with mother and daughter duo, Wendy Johnston and Ashley Smith, in the Visitors’ Center auditorium. This concert will be held on February 23 at 7:00 PM.

Wendy Johnston has a Bachelor of Music from Shenandoah Conservatory and a Master of Music in organ performance from the Peabody Institute. She is Organist and Assistant Director of Music at Catonsville Presbyterian Church where she directs a youth choir. Wendy finds joy in teaching at BYU Organ Workshops and loves the unique role that the organ plays in facilitating worship and expressing faith.

Ashley completed a Bachelor of Music in piano performance at Brigham Young University. While there, she won first place in the BYU Concerto Competition and performed as a soloist with the BYU Philharmonic and Riverton Metropolitan Symphonies. Since graduating, Ashley has completed extensive Suzuki piano teacher training and continues to perform, accompany, and teach.

Wendy and Ashley look forward to having some audience participation as they explore and sing together a few unfamiliar yet wonderful hymns. It is their hope that the audience will leave nourished musically and spiritually.

All are welcome and entrance and parking are free.
